Leamington Arts Centre (LAC) is proud to announce the opening of the new exhibition Traces, on view from June 1st – June 26th, 2022. This exhibition made possible by the sponsorship from RBC Bank and through the efforts of the University of Windsor staff and faculty.
Traces is a student exhibition, featuring the multidisciplinary works of graduate students in the 2022 MFA Program at the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts (SoCA): Nate Talbot, Jules Pietras, Daniela González, Lyndsay McKay, Nathalie Dubois Calero and Steve Rose.
Throughout the exhibit, the artist’s works are anchored through their particular ability to describe and convey a sense of “trace”. Whether referring to an indexical relationship with the subject represented, or referencing an identifiable location, or one that is conceptual and abstract, the artists hand over the highest value to the exploration of material, including its own sense of time and place, interactions, agencies, and histories. The collection encourages the viewer to contemplate – or decipher – the context in which ideas of “trace” extend to one another, connecting through themes of death, loss and absence, magic, sustainability, domesticity, immemorial conversation, and recollection.
The opening reception for Traces will take place on Friday, June 17th from 5pm – 10pm in conjunction with our Mill St. Market in uptown Leamington.
