The LAC strives to help enrich our communities understanding and appreciation for the arts and culture while assisting to enhance skills and talents for both youth and adults.
Come join us and explore your artistic side. Develop your skills and have fun in our relaxed lower level studios. Our teachers offer a broad range of adult and children’s classes suited to all levels and areas of interest from acrylic, oil, watercolour and encaustic painting, drawing, printmaking as well as specialized individual one on one classes and holiday and seasonal art camps for children.

This introduction to film-making fundamentals will consist of interactive lectures supported by audio-visual clips. You will learn:
- the basics of film scripts: how it should look, how it should read and how it should reflect the passage of time;
- the basics of shot structure – the building blocks of a film;
- the broad concept of screen direction – the rules to maintain coherent spatial relations on screen;
- what goes behind movie sound – why it is so important, why it is so difficult and tricks to simplify this for low-budget creators;
- simple director tricks to maximize the impact of a scene;
- camera lens decisions to support your story and your locations.
Things learned in this workshop can be applied to all film genres: dramatic narrative, documentary, experimental.
