NEW FACILITY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

The South Essex Arts Association (SEAA), operating as the Leamington Arts Centre (LAC) is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization reliant on community support. In return, this community support supports the community back through the meaningful programs and services offered at the Arts Centre which make our community a brighter place to live and visit. Arts and Culture programs generate tourism, and economic development. Investing in the arts is investing in the people of the community and their quality of life.

In 1995, the SEAA moved into the old Federal Post Office Building. Since then, the SEAA and the Municipality have been continually investing funds into this facility as the community needs for the arts have changed and grown. The past 30 years on Talbot St. W have been an amazing journey and we are so thankful to the municipality and all of our supporters. At this time, the organization and community needs are outgrowing this facility.

The South Essex Arts Association is seeking the community’s assistance to invest in an opportunity for the next 30 years and the next generation of arts and culture.

A new facility has been found and is waiting. The SEAA is seeking immediate assistance to secure the property. In order to do so, the SEAA must raise the required the funds necessary for the downpayment and closing costs. The goal is $900,000 before our offer on the property expires, or it is sold to another buyer.

The SEAA currently does not own the facility at 72 Talbot St. W. Ownership of a new facility would provide the organization not only with a renewed and larger more accommodating space, but also security and sustainability; an asset and equity which the Arts Centre does not currently have.

Formerly the Municipal Building (Town Hall) and Mersea Township building, as well as the police force, was constructed in 1966 and is a post-modern mid-century facility with quality build. This new property is 12,000 sq/ft on the main floor with additional space in the lower level for storage and offices. It features a backup generator, fire suppression system and many improvements to the current Arts Centre facility.

The new facility features larger and more gallery spaces, space for a larger art supply shop to support local creators, a new picture framing design and workspace, larger and more meeting spaces for community groups, a very large and impressive banquet and event hall that would double as a gallery space, a larger education studio, a parking lot for visitors and for hosting community and private events, a promenade patio area, ample storage space for the artwork collections, amazing visitor appeal with modern renovations throughout, and a very high traffic visible location on the main street uptown and close to amenities. The facility is also fully accessible, has one floor programming space, and boasts multiple washrooms, kitchens and extra features for the public to enjoy.

This new facility will support the Arts Centre now, and for the next generations to come with space for continued growth and development.

WE ARE SEEKING FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN ANY AMOUNT, ON ALL LEVELS FROM INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, FOUNDATIONS….

If the funds are not raised, this very specific and special facility will be sold, and the opportunity missed. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT NOW!

A new SEAA owned facility is the path to sustainability for the arts in Leamington and the surrounding region. This is an incredible opportunity with donor benefits of naming rights to build a family or loved one’s legacy, to show your individual or businesses support for the arts and quality of life.

The arts are a way to celebrate people and living. Help us to create, sustain and celebrate the arts. Together, we can make meaningful impacts on lives. With this new facility we can ensure the Arts Centre will be around to help inspire and nurture the human spirit for years to come.

Sincerely,
Chad Riley,
