Mattia Lapa: from the LAC collection

Mattia Lapa (Barraco) is a Leamington resident. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Windsor in the early 1990’s.

This collection of work is representational of figure studies completed during her training at the University under the Mentorship of professors Adel Duck, Susan Gold, Tony Doctor and Joe DeAngelis, to name a few. These studies were then adapted to the large-scale oil on canvas and board paintings representing the sense of movement, vitality and beauty of the live models from which they were derived.

These works are part of the South Essex Arts Association/Leamington Arts Centre collection, donated by the artist in October 2014 for the purpose of preservation and display.
