The LAC with the support of the uptown Leamington BIA is seeking artist proposals for create a stunning work of art on the exterior of the building facing Mill St. West.
The project aims to transform and beautify the LAC and Uptown Leamington while celebrating Leamington’s vibrant arts and cultural history.
The Mini Mural will measure approximately 45" x 40" to cover a set of black steel dumbwaiter doors.
Eligibility
The competition is open to artists living in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent Counties.
Applications may be made by individual artists or a group of artist collaborators (all artist collaborators must be residents of these eligible Counties.)
The commissioned artist(s) will be expected to complete the mural by August 15, 2023.
Artist(s) will be required to sign a Project Agreement with the Leamington Arts Centre.
Deadline to Submit Proposals
July 7, 2023. Incomplete or late submission will not be considered.
Compensation
$500 will be granted to the artist with the selected the proposal. $250 at the commencement and $250 upon successful completion.
Theme
All themes will be considered as part of the jury process.
Media
Choice of material is open and will be consider in the jury process. Digital works printed and installed as vinyl will also be considered along with traditional paint and other media.
Artists are to supply all materials and final clear coat for mural protection and preservation.

• (25%) Creativity (conceptual approach, composition and use of space)
• (25%) Technical (materials, durability and maintenance requirements)
• (25%) Experience (capacity to plan and execute a large scale public mural, quality of past work skills and level of experience)
