25th ANNUAL: JURIED STUDENT ART SHOW

Sponsoured by the Rotary Club of Leamington and the Kiwanis Club, the Leamington Arts Centre presents the 25th annual Juried Student Art Show.

Eligiblity: This exhibition is open to ALL Essex County Secondary Students in the following categories:

1. Painting (Acrylic, Oil, Watercolour, etc.)

2. Drawing (Pencil, Charcoal, Pastel, Ink, etc.)

3. Sculpture/3D (Clay, Found Objects, etc.)

4. Photography (Analogue, Digital)

5. Mixed Media (Assemblage, Collage, Textiles, etc.)

6. Video/Filmmaking (Animation, Experimental, etc.)

7. New Media Art (Graphic Design, Digital Illustration, etc.).

8. Printmaking (Linocut, intaglio, etc.)

Limitations: MAXIMUM of 8 ENTRIES per student in any category, (can submit more than one artwork per category.) Minimum Size of 8x10", Maximum Size of 36x48" for 2D artwork (including frame or foam core/bristol board matting)

Fee: There are NO FEE to participate. This exhibition is generously sponsored by the Rotary Club of Leamington and the Kiwanis Club.

Jurying: The judging panel will base decisions on: Aesthetics/Visual Impact, Creativity/Originality, Skill/Technique and Overall Presentation. ALL artwork submitted will be displayed in the exhibition.

CASH PRIZES in EACH of the 8 categories ($2000 TOTAL):

1st Place - $80, 2nd Place - $60, 3rd Place - $40, Honourable Mention - $20

People’s Choice Award - $100. Visitors will have the opportunity to cast a single vote for their favorite work. Votes will be tallied at the end of the show to determine one winner.

Future Artist Award - $300. In honour of the late Marg and Don Ross, this award is granted to a graduating student who showcases the most potential as an artist or enthusiast and whom has demonstrated extraordinary support and patronage to the arts in the community. For those who choose to submit, students must write a 500-word statement on their current involvement in the arts and describe their artistic goals for the future. Judging will be based on the statement and artwork submitted and one winner selected.

NO PICK UP BEFORE APRIL 25. ALL ARTWORK MUST BE PICKED UP ON OR BEFORE MAY 7

Artwork Preparation

VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ & FOLLOW!

All 2D artwork MUST be mounted/matted or framed as outlined below. Loose artwork on paper or other media will NOT be accepted.

Foam Core/Bristol Board or matted mounted artwork MUST include a Bulldog Clip to hang.

Stretched canvas and any other framed artwork MUST BE WIRED on the back. Saw-Tooth Hooks/Aligator Hooks or other types of hardware are NOT accepted.

Canvas Boards need no hanging hardware, but can include bulldog clips if they will support to hang.

Heavy pencil, charcoal, pastel or other material that may smear should be treated with an art fixative prior to submission. Such pieces should also have a protective overlay.

Free-standing 3D works MUST be assembled and stable/balanced.

Video and Film works MUST be in MP4 or AVI formats ONLY and sent via WeTransfer.com ONLY (it's free). USB thumbdrives will NOT be accepted.

Properly Label ALL Artwork on back matching the online form. Title of Artwork, Student Name, School, and Category/Media. Label template available on the LAC website.

Artwork not properly prepared, incomplete or late submissions will NOT be displayed in the exhibit or eligbile for awards.
