SPIRITUAL REVELATIONS: Pavlo Lopata

Reception: Fri Aug 19, 5-10pm  (in conjunction with the Mill St Market)

Various life and artistic preferences influenced the artist’s interest in pursuing surrealism and symbolic themes. His surrealist art is a journey of discovery and reflection on the deep symbolism of objects such as an egg, a candle, bells, the cross and hands. The hands of God are a repeating theme in many works. The artist’s creative foundation rests on themes which embody God’s world, religion, native Ukrainian roots, the tragic history of Ukraine and the family unit. The juxtaposition of surrealism and symbolism are the artist’s concrete manifestation of the internal dynamic of human reason and imagination.
