JURIED STUDENT ART SHOW: 21st Annual

The LAC presents the 21st Annual Juried Student Art Show featuring works by Secondary Students from across Essex County. Categories include: Acrylic Painting, Oil Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photography, Digital Media and Film.
 
$2120 IN CASH PRIZES will be awarded in EACH Category with a People’s Choice Award at the end of the month. Also, as a part of this event, a $100 “Future Artist” Award will be granted to the graduating student who showcases the most artistic potential.

Flock Fest 2019

INCUBATION: Flock Fest

The Flock Fest is an annual arts event which brings the community together to embrace the arts. The Flock Fest is an exhibition of works representing the journey of creative exploration, connecting and soring past our personal limits. It is an exhibit of new, inspirational and stimulating artwork that highlights artist’s feats and flights through the thrills of personal and spiritual migration and growth.

The theme of this  year’s exhibit is “Incubation”. The process of incubating: to maintain under conditions favorable for hatching of development. To cause or aid in the development of an idea.  

This exhibition is non-juried and open to ALL amateur and professional artists. All works submitted will be displayed. All mediums are accepted. All ages and artistic experience are encouraged to participate. There is NO submission fee to enter the exhibit, courtesy of the 5th annual Flock Fest. 

SPRING STUDIO CLEAR OUT

Do you have old artwork that has been around for years, work that your are tired of shuffling around to make space in your studio? The 2019 annual members show and sale celebrates the strength, vitality, creativity and wealth of talent found within the Leamington Arts Centre (LAC)/ South Essex Arts Association (SEAA). Each year, the diverse and outstanding works by our members creates an exciting and engaging exhibition whereby artists are able to showcase, share and sell their work.

The exhibition creates a platform for artists to network with peers to develop their skills and experiences. Open to all media, any subject matter. Please see submission form for more details.

LOCAL DIY

This exhibit is for the do-it yourselfers out there who create handmade, unique and one of a kind arts and crafts from driftwood to fabricated steel furniture, wearables like clothing or jewelry, textiles and housewares… if you make it, you can enter it! Show off your creativity and unique style for doing things in this celebratory DIY exhibit.

The Breaking Barriers exhibition’s focus is to create an understanding of lived experiences. The exhibition seeks to highlight resilience and resourcefulness in coping with barriers. A barrier can be anything that one must overcome to reach a goal, even if the goal is simply to survive. Breaking Barriers is an exhibition for creative expression that empowers, builds awareness, and facilitates partnerships and collaborations.

A SIGNATURE CHRISTMAS: Indoor Artist Market

The LAC presents a Signature Christmas indoor Artist Market. This annual arts and crafts show offers perfect unique and beautiful gifts for everyone on your list! Come see a festive presentation of jewelry, pottery, ceramics, driftwood and woodworking arts and crafts, acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings, photography and much more; handmade items to fit every budget from stocking stuffers to signature gifts. Everyone is certain to enjoy shopping in a warm Christmas setting in this month-long “holiday store” with free visitor admission!

Solo Exhibition Submissions

The LAC is a 10,000 sqaure foot state of the art facility. Our 4 large galleries offer 400 linear feet of continuous wall space and 3000 sq/ft of floor space for a perfect setting for exhibitions and many other community based events and receptions. Our building situated in the heart of downtown Leamington at 72 Talbot Street West offers three floors of galleries, meeting rooms, workshop and studio space, plus, its fully accessible!

Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance

Program for: Individuals

Purpose: The program provides grants of $500 to $1,500 to assist individual artists with costs related to presenting their work in an exhibition.

Grant decisions are made through third-party recommenders (public art galleries, artist-run centres and arts service organizations) throughout the province. Artists must apply directly to a recommender located in the zone in which they live. Approved applications are forwarded to OAC by the recommender once the decision to award a grant has been made.

Eligibility: This program is open to Ontario-based professional visual artists, craft artists and media artists who have a confirmed, upcoming public exhibition. Exhibitions in Ontario, in other Canadian provinces and in international locations are all eligible.

Deadline: Recommenders establish their own application deadlines for Exhibition Assistance, or may decide to accept applications on an ongoing basis. Please refer to Recommender Deadlines and Contacts (below) for further information.
