The Breaking Barriers exhibition’s focus is to create an understanding of lived experiences. The exhibition seeks to highlight resilience and resourcefulness in coping with barriers. A barrier can be anything that one must overcome to reach a goal, even if the goal is simply to survive. JURIED STUDENT ART SHOW: 20th Annual

The LAC presents the 20th Annual Juried Student Art Show featuring works by Secondary Students from across Essex County. Categories include: Acrylic Painting, Oil Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photography, Digital Media and Film.

$1200 IN CASH PRIZES will be awarded in EACH Category with a People’s Choice Award at the end of the month. Also, as a part of this event, a $100 “Future Artist” Award will be granted to the graduating student who showcases the most artistic potential.

POINT PELEE 100 STUDENT ART SHOW: Point Pelee National Park

In celebration of Point Pelee National Park’s 100th anniversary in 2018, Point Pelee Citizen Advisory Commitee invites students to participate in the Point Pelee 100 Student Art Show. Join the park as it celebrates the rich natural and cultural heritage that makes it so unique and looks to shaping the spirit of community and conservation in the future.
All artwork MUST be in the following categories and themes:
Grades 1-4: Conservation
Grades 5-8: Community
Grades: 9-12: Looking to the Future
This exhibition is open to ALL Elementary and Secondary students in Essex & Kent County. ONLY DRAWING media (coloured pencil, wax crayon, graphite, charcoal, pen & ink, pastel, etc) will be accepted and they MUST be on 11×17” paper. A maximum of 6 entries per school will be accepted. ALL artwork MUST be in the exhibit themes listed below according to the grade level.

Nesting: Leamington Flock Fest

The Leamington Flock Fest is an annual arts event which brings the community together to embrace the arts. The Flock Fest is an exhibition of work representing the journey of creative exploration, connecting and soring past our personal limits. It is an exhibit of new, inspirational and stimulating artwork that highlights artist’s feats and flights through the thrills of personal and spiritutal migration and growth. The theme of this year’s exhibit is “Nesting.” Artists may be inspired by an actual nest but artists are also free to share personal, mental, or spiritual inspirations and ideas that are representational for them of nesting.

Eligibility: This exhibition is open to all amateur and professional artists. All mediums are accepted: photography, painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, digital, fashion, graphic arts, literature, pottery, etc..

The 2018 annual members show and sale celebrates the strength, vitality, creativity and wealth of talent found within the Leamington Arts Centre (LAC)/ South Essex Arts Association (SEAA). Each year, the diverse and outstanding works by our members creates an exciting and engaging exhibition whereby artists are able to showcase, share and sell their work.
 
The exhibition creates a platform for artists to network with peers to develop their skills and experiences.

 LAC presents its annual indoor Christmas Arts & Crafts show. Featuring artists and artisans in a variety of mediums; photography, painting, jewelry, literary arts, crafts and more… This beautiful month long “gift shop” style exhibition has many great deals so come enjoy the works in a warm Christmas setting.

Solo Exhibition Submissions

The LAC is a 10,000 sqaure foot state of the art facility. Our 4 large galleries offer 400 linear feet of continuous wall space and 3000 sq/ft of floor space for a perfect setting for exhibitions and many other community based events and receptions. Our building situated in the heart of downtown Leamington at 72 Talbot Street West offers three floors of galleries, meeting rooms, workshop and studio space, plus, its fully accessible!

Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance
 
Program for: Individuals
 
Purpose: The program provides grants of $500 to $1,500 to assist individual artists with costs related to presenting their work in an exhibition.
 
Grant decisions are made through third-party recommenders (public art galleries, artist-run centres and arts service organizations) throughout the province. Artists must apply directly to a recommender located in the zone in which they live. Approved applications are forwarded to OAC by the recommender once the decision to award a grant has been made.
 
Eligibility: This program is open to Ontario-based professional visual artists, craft artists and media artists who have a confirmed, upcoming public exhibition. Exhibitions in Ontario, in other Canadian provinces and in international locations are all eligible.
 
Deadline: Recommenders establish their own application deadlines for Exhibition Assistance, or may decide to accept applications on an ongoing basis. Please refer to Recommender Deadlines and Contacts (below) for further information.
